At the same time, with the appearance of the thermoelectric power station, the development of this parish was notorious.
Today, Tunes is increasingly a parish that follows the route of national tourism, in its station pass daily trains Alfa Pendular and Intercidades to Lisbon or Faro, and regional trains between Vila Real de Santo António and Lagos.
