Percelada, or Perselada (from Pedra Selada), is a very old town that belonged to the cenobium of Santa Cruz de Coimbra, and later to the city's University. It has no known charter, either given by its grantees or by the Crown, and not even a Manueline charter from the time when so many towns received or had their municipal status renewed. It is possible that it was included in the charter of Lagos da Beira, granted by King Manuel in 1514. It is true that the town has a pillory, clearly Manueline in style, albeit of a very simple design. The municipality was abolished in 1836 and Percelada is now a village in the parish of Covas, in the municipality of Tábua.
