Faro is a city in Portugal, and the capital of the Algarve, the tourist region which is located in the extreme south of Portugal.
Faro is home to an international airport which welcomes more and more tourists every year (mainly from northern Europe). Faro is bordered to the north and west by the municipality of São Brás de Alportel, to the east by Olhão, and to the west by Loulé and to the south by the Atlantic. Faro is the capital of the Algarve, with approximately 67,650 inhabitants (2021)1. It occupies the southernmost promontory of Portugal.
